    Slow Overnight Oatmeal Recipe

  • Prep Time:
  • Cook Time:
  • Recipe Description:

Delicious creamy oatmeal made from freshly rolled oats. Very little work involved. Simply mix, sleep, cook.

    Recipe Instructions:

The night before, I combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan with a lid and let it sit overnight. Then in the morning, on medium heat, and stirring constantly, I cook the oatmeal until it is as thick as I like.

I serve it with butter, maple syrup and fresh goat milk!

Did you hear about the new thing with soaking oatmeal? You're supposed to add 1 T of flour for each cup of oatmeal you soak. It helps it to better break down. Reply
    • Yes! This is a great point, Amy. Apparently oatmeal lacks the phytates to break down phytic acid. That is why you should add some flour to it as a "starter" of sorts, since wheat does contain phytates. I will edit the recipe for this as I think it's important. Reply
